It was REALLY hard to find a hotel that wasn’t booked. I was able to get this booked for coaches/players at Western Rugby rate ($89) – but I took all the booked rooms and they wouldn’t allow parents to have this rate anyway. The are other rooms available, but not at the special rate, the regular rate is $159/night.
There is a café of sorts connected and they will have hot breakfast available (potatoes, eggs, bacon – no pancakes) – but we pay for breakfast. Starting at 6:30 in the morning – I’ve warned them we are coming.

Our first match is against Kansas City at 12:00 on Saturday
Sunday our match will be at 9:30 or 11 – depending on how we’ve done so far. Against Katy or Jenks, OK, depending on what their outcome on Saturday.

NOTE: THEY DO NOT ALLOW METAL CLEATS ON THIS FIELD – this is an artificial surface and the city of Fort Worth does not allow use of metal cleats. All players must either wear molded soccer-style cleats or replace metal spikes w/ screw-in plastic spikes

Parent meeting at end of practice to discuss state tournament this weekend. Parent attendance is strongly encouraged, please.

Ladies, you will be hearing from your lead mom very soon regarding travel and details.

U19s, you will note there are many U17 players on this roster. The team/roster we check in with at state, is the only one we get for the entire playoff run. So IF we win state and go to the West, we cannot add players (and the same for nationals). The good news is many players get to be a part of the playoffs. The bad news is that we can only jersey 23 players per match (and we only play two matches in Austin, one on Saturday and one Sunday), so that means there will be several on this roster who will not get to play. This circumstance is outside of our control. As both state and the West are within driving distance, the travel costs will not be big unless we make it nationals, but there will be hotel and food. If we make out of state, the West tournament is in DFW on May 1/2, so we will not have much time to get moving if we are fortunate enough to win state.

I would VERY much like to have every parent from this roster meet at the field after practice on Monday to discuss a few details so everyone is on the same page (if available). Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions as I know they will arise. Thank you in advance for your help and patience as we move through playoffs and the month of May (what an interesting month it will be…)!

Woodlands Youth Rugby State Roster

U19, U17 and U15 players (and anyone else who wants to travel en bloc) are meeting at TWHS 630 for 645am departure. If you need a ride or have space and want to carpool, please meet at the school (on time). We will have in excess of 90 players at the tournament, so we need everyone to please be punctual throughout the day.

U13/U11 departure has been set by Coach Greg and Ian, so please follow those instructions. Ladies are a bit scattered as some of you have conflicts in the am. Please arrive ahead of the clinic start time.

Everyone please ensure you have your mouthguards and sunscreen. We will have water/gatorade at our base area. Stay hydrated as it will be warm at there is a lot of rugby tomorrow!

All parents and players, please note the brackets for A&M Tournament Schedule. The possibility does exist that there will be changes, but we want to get something to you as this just arrived a few minutes ago. Parents/players will need to coordinate with their lead parents who will be coordinating with the coach for each respective group regarding meeting locations, arrival times, check in/out processes etc. We will have 90 + players at this tournament, and need everyone’s cooperation to ensure things are not missed. No one leaves without checking first with the designated parent/coach. If we miss a kickoff time because players are not where they are supposed to be on time, the whole team loses as a forfeit.

More detail for individual teams will be sent by lead parents and posted as soon as we can get that information together.

Academy players, as you can see, we have early matches for both U19/U17 sides, so you will need to arrive earlier than others. More details to follow.

Tournament Schedule: A&M Tournament Brackets

• Ladies Rugby - have game at Kingwood

Kingwood High School for a Midday Kick Off.  All to meet at TWHS car Park 10am. Will need to car pool.

• U13 and U15 have a tournament in Waco at:

5000 Bagby Waco, TX  76711

This part of Bagby runs parallel to I-35 (west of it) between New Road (exit 331) and TX Hwy 6/Loop 340 (exit 330.  The Waco ISD Stadium is across the street.  Caution:  Baylor University’s pitch (complete w/ big rugby goal posts) is also on Bagby, but miles away and on the other side of I-35.

U13 – is to be at pitch by 10:30

U15 – is to be at pitch by 12:00

• U19

The following players need to be at Lone Star College NO later than 10:00am on Saturday March 6 for the match versus San Antonio. The Match will kick off at 11:30am.

Coaches

DO NOT make plans for Saturday between the hours of 9am-1pm as we will likely practice in lieu of our match. This will be a MANDATORY session.
